Yosemite National Park

As you know, Yosemite Mountain National Park is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. It is known for its ancient sequoia trees, Tunnel View, and stunning Bridalveil Fall and Half Dome views. In Yosemite Village are shops, restaurants, lodging, the Yosemite Museum, and the Ansel Adams Gallery, with prints of the photographer’s renowned black-and-white landscapes of the area.

Have you ever wanted to find just the right swimming hole? There is one local landmark the casual passerby has never heard of, but it is all the talk of the town. The one we have for you is conveniently located right off Highway 120 to Yosemite National Park!

yosemite firefall at sunsetThe Rainbow Pools are a series of natural swimming holes along the river’s south fork, where brave kids can jump in the largest pools or dip their feet in the water. The area was originally a toll stop on the Big Oak Flat Road to Yosemite and later a resort development. Today, it is a picnic, swimming, hiking, and fishing spot.

The Rainbow Pools are located in Groveland, 15 miles to the east. After you pass the ViewPoint parking area called Rim of the World, which looks down onto the Tuolumne River canyon, watch for a turn on the right just before the big bridge. If you miss the right, just after the bridge is the turnoff to Cherry Lake, you can turn around there.
