OMG! Paris is Still the Number One City in the Whole World!

Hey bestie! I have the most amazing news! I just saw that Paris was named the most attractive city in the entire world again! Can you believe it? That is five years in a row! I am not surprised at all because Paris is literally the coolest place I have ever been. We have to start planning your trip right now because you are going to love it so much. I put together this super long guide for you so you know exactly what to do, what to eat, and how to get those perfect photos for your phone! Get excited because this is going to be the best trip ever!

Where to Get the Best Food Ever

Okay, let’s talk about the most important thing first: food! Paris has the best snacks in the world. When you wake up, do not eat at the hotel. Walk down the street until you see a shop that says “Boulangerie.” That is a bakery! You have to order a “Pain au Chocolat.” It is like a croissant but it has two bars of chocolate inside. It is so flaky and buttery! It will cost you exactly $2.50. Stand right outside the shop and eat it while it is still warm. It is so much better that way!

For lunch, you should find a crepe stand. You will see them on the sidewalk all over the city. You have to order the ham and cheese one. They make it right in front of you on a big hot circle. They fold it up into a triangle and put it in a little paper holder. It costs about $8.00. It is the perfect lunch to eat while you are walking around looking at cool stuff. If you want something sweet after, get one with Nutella for $6.00.

For dinner, you have to go to a place called Le Relais de l’Entrecôte. There is always a line, but it moves fast. They only serve one thing: steak and fries! The steak has this secret green sauce that is so yummy. They even come back and give you a second helping for free! The dinner costs $35.00. You should order your steak “Medium” if you don’t like it too pink. And you have to get the profiteroles for dessert. They are little puff balls with ice cream and chocolate sauce. They are $10.00 and they are worth every penny!

The Best Spots for Your Photos

You are going to want to take a million photos because everything in Paris looks amazing! The best place to see the Eiffel Tower is not right under it. If you stand right under it, you can’t see the whole thing. Instead, take the train to a stop called “Trocadéro.” When you come out of the station, you will see a big open area. Go to the big stone stairs and stand on the second landing. If you stand there, the Eiffel Tower will be right behind you and it looks huge! It is totally free to stand there. Budget $0 for this, but maybe $5 for a bottle of water because you will be walking a lot!

Another super cool spot is in a neighborhood called Montmartre. Look for a street called “Rue de l’Abreuvoir.” There is a very famous pink house there called La Maison Rose. It is so bright and pretty! Stand across the street so you can get the pink house and the cobblestone street in the photo. It looks like it is from a movie! After that, walk up the hill to the big white church called Sacré-Cœur. It looks like a giant white marshmallow! You can sit on the grass for free and look out over the whole city. It is the best view ever and it costs $0.

If you want a photo with the Louvre pyramid, go there around 9:00 PM. The sun goes down and the pyramid glows with yellow lights! It is way less crowded at night. Stand a little bit away from it and hold your hand up like you are touching the tip of the pyramid. It is a classic photo and it looks so cool! Entering the museum costs $22.00, but looking at the pyramid from the outside is free!

Cool Things You Have to Do

You have to go to the Louvre Museum. It is the biggest museum in the world! It used to be a giant palace for kings, so it is huge. You have to see the Mona Lisa. She is smaller than you think, about the size of a cereal box, but her eyes really do follow you! After that, go find the statues with no arms. They are super old and very famous. Spending three hours here is a good idea. Budget $22.00 for your ticket and buy it online before you go so you don’t have to wait in a long line.

You also need to take a boat ride on the Seine River. The boats are called Bateaux Mouches. They have big open tops so you can see all the bridges. Paris has the prettiest bridges in the world! The boat ride takes about one hour and it costs $16.00. Do this at sunset so you can see the city start to glow. It is so romantic and fun, even if you are just with friends!

Go shopping in Le Marais. This is a very old neighborhood with tiny streets. There are tons of little shops that sell cute notebooks, candles, and clothes. I found a cool notebook there for $12.00. It is a great place to just get lost and walk around. Everything looks so old and neat!

Money Stuff: Budget vs. Balling Out

I know you want to know how much money to bring. Paris can be expensive, but you can also do it for cheap if you are smart. Here is a little table I made to show you the difference between saving money and spending like a queen!

What You NeedBudget Bestie (Per Day)Balling Out Bestie (Per Day)
Place to Sleep$45.00 (Hostel bed)$400.00 (Fancy Hotel)
Yummy Food$35.00 (Bakery & Crepes)$150.00 (Fancy Restaurants)
Fun Activities$20.00 (Walking & Parks)$100.00 (Private Tours)
Getting Around$10.00 (Metro/Walking)$70.00 (Ubers & Taxis)
Total Each Day$110.00$720.00

A Few More Bestie Tips

Before you go, here are three things you have to remember! First, the Metro is the best way to get around. It is a big underground train. Buy a “Carnet” which is a pack of 10 tickets. It costs $18.00 and it is cheaper than buying them one by one. Second, don’t throw your ticket away until you are out of the station! Sometimes police wait at the exit to check tickets, and if you don’t have yours, they make you pay a $50.00 fine! That would totally ruin the mood.

Third, learn how to say “Bonjour.” It means hello! You have to say it every time you walk into a shop or talk to someone. It is very important in Paris. If you say “Bonjour,” everyone will be so much nicer to you! It is like a magic word. Also, “Merci” means thank you. Use those two words and you will be fine!

Last thing! Wear comfortable sneakers. Do not wear high heels or flip-flops. The streets are made of old stones and your feet will hurt so bad if you don’t have good shoes. I wore my white sneakers every day and I was totally fine. We are going to walk like 20,000 steps a day, so be ready!

I am so excited for you to see why this city wins the top spot every single year. It is like living in a dream. You are going to have the best time ever and take the best photos! I can’t wait to see them all!
