OMG You HAVE to Check Out This Colorado Ranch!
Hey friend! I was just sitting here thinking about where we should go on our next big trip, and I found the coolest place ever! It is called Tumbling River Ranch, and it is right in the middle of the mountains in Colorado. Seriously, if you want to get away from your phone and just see some trees and horses, this is it! It is an all-inclusive ranch, which means once we get there, we don’t have to worry about paying for every little thing. Everything is just taken care of. How awesome is that?!
What Is This Place Anyway?
Okay, so imagine 21 super fancy cabins sitting in the middle of a huge forest. It is totally off-grid, which means we can actually talk to each other instead of staring at screens. But don’t worry, it is not “roughing it” at all. These cabins are luxe! They have cozy beds, warm blankets, and they look like something out of a movie. The ranch is surrounded by millions of acres of wilderness. It is so big you won’t believe it! The air smells like pine trees and fresh rain, and it is the best thing ever for your lungs.
The best part is that it is all-inclusive. This means your room, your food, and all the fun stuff like riding horses is included in one price. No digging for your wallet every five minutes! I love that because I always lose my credit card when I’m having too much fun.
The Food Is So Good You’ll Want Seconds (and Thirds!)
Let’s talk about the most important thing: the food! Since it is all-inclusive, you can eat a lot. For breakfast, you have to order the sourdough pancakes. They are super fluffy and come with real maple syrup. Also, the bacon is nice and crispy. Budget about $0 for this because it’s already paid for, but man, it feels like a $30 breakfast!
For lunch, they usually do big spreads or pack you a sack lunch if you are going out for a hike. If they are serving the pulled pork sandwiches at the ranch, GET TWO. The sauce is sweet and sticky and so good. And for dinner? They do these big family-style meals. One night might be a huge steak fry where they cook the meat over a real fire. It tastes smoky and juicy. You have to try the homemade peach cobbler for dessert. It comes out hot with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!
What We Are Going To Do All Day
The main thing people do here is ride horses! Even if you have never been on a horse before, they will teach you. They have horses that are super chill and just walk slowly, which is perfect for me. I want to ride a horse named “Biscuits” if they have one. We will go on trails that go way up into the mountains. You can see for miles and miles!
If you don’t like horses, we can go fishing. The water in the creek is super clear and cold. You can actually see the fish swimming around! They have people there who will show you how to fly fish. It looks hard on TV but it is actually really relaxing. We can also go hiking. There are trails everywhere. We should bring good boots because some of the hills are a little steep, but the view at the top is totally worth it.
Where To Take the Best Photos
You know we have to get some good photos for the memories! Here are the three spots where you HAVE to stand:
- The Old Wooden Bridge: There is a bridge over the main creek. Stand right in the middle around 5:00 PM when the sun starts to go down. The light hits the water and makes everything look gold. It looks amazing!
- The Porch Swing: Most of the cabins have a porch with a swing. Sit there with a big mug of cocoa and look toward the mountains. It’s the perfect “I’m relaxing” photo.
- The Top of Lookout Mountain: After a short hike, there is a big flat rock at the top. If you stand on it, you can see the whole ranch down below. It makes you look like a mountain explorer!
How Much Does This Cost?
I know, I know, we have to talk about money. This place is a bit of a splurge, but remember, everything is included! You don’t have to pay for dinner, drinks, or the horses once you are there. I did the math for us. For a full week stay, here is what we are looking at:
| What You Get | Budgeting ($4,200) | Balling Out ($8,500) |
|---|---|---|
| The Cabin | A cozy standard cabin with a nice bed and a porch. | A huge 3-bedroom cabin with a private fireplace and a hot tub. |
| Food & Drinks | All your meals and basic drinks are included! | All meals plus fancy extra snacks and top-shelf drinks. |
| Activities | Daily horse rides and guided group hikes. | Private horse tours and a personal fishing guide all day. |
| Travel to Ranch | Driving our own car and bringing our own snacks for the road. | Flying into Denver and taking a private car service to the ranch. |
If we go with the “Budget” plan, it’s about $600 a day per person. That sounds like a lot, but think about it: a hotel is $250, food is $100, and a horse ride is $150. It actually adds up to be a pretty good deal!
What To Pack
Since we are going to Colorado, the weather can be a little crazy. Even in the summer, it can get cold at night. You need to pack layers! Here is your checklist:
- Jeans: Bring two pairs for riding horses. You don’t want to ride in shorts, trust me! Your legs will get itchy.
- A Big Jacket: Even if it’s sunny, once the sun goes behind the mountains, it gets chilly. A puffy jacket is best.
- Sunscreen: The sun is super strong up in the mountains. We don’t want to look like lobsters.
- Boots: Wear shoes that can get a little dirty. There is mud and dirt everywhere, but that’s the fun part!
- A Hat: A cowboy hat would be cool, but a baseball cap works too to keep the sun out of your eyes.
Why You’ll Love It
This place is just special. It’s not like staying at a big hotel in a city. At Tumbling River Ranch, the people who run it actually learn your name. They treat you like family. You can sit by a campfire at night and look at the stars. Since there are no city lights, you can see way more stars than we ever see at home. It’s so quiet that you can hear the wind in the trees. It’s the perfect place to just breathe and feel happy.
I am so excited about this! We should totally go this year. Whether we go in the summer to see the green grass or in the winter to play in the snow, it’s going to be the best trip ever. I can already see us sitting on that porch swing laughing about something silly.
